I believe that on this player, you cannot pause the disc without a remote. In fact, you can't do much other than play and stop the disc if you don't have a remote. I would suggest contacting Pioneer to see if they have an appropriate remote available. As far as the remote connector, some of these old players and remotes have facilities for both wired and wireless connections.

Thanks, Lasermeister. After searching Pioneer's site .I came to the same conclusion you did. They don't have a 6010 listed, but do have a 4000 series and 8000 series , they have 3 options... on the unit, wireless and wired remotes.Mine doesn't have the same buttons on the player.I think the advantage of the wired is more functions. You can also hook up to a computer.I'll call Pioneer and see if there's a code I can put into a universal remote, or buy an original.
Called Pioneer. There is a remote still available...$115 through www.goodguyspartsearch.com...I think I'll pass. The Pioneer tech said there is't a programable code for a learning remote.
