I only used it briefly when trying an initial setup, so I can't really comment on how much it affects the picture quality; it did look great, but that was my 1st look at it.One thing I did find unusual about it, while the image is geometrically corrected, the light spill around it isn't. In other words, you could have a properly shaped 16x9 image onscreen, but trapezoidal light would spill on the wall behind it. To use the sideshot for film would require velvet masking, or something similar. Maybe there's a way around this, since I really didn't play with it that much, but it could be an issue if you planned on using the feature.
