I have the RP-62 but I don't notice any of the faults listed in the review. For $175, it works for me. Additionally, I use it for DVD only, connected via component cables directly to my TV. As one poster noted, some of the faults pointed out in the reviews sound more serious and noticible than they really are. I'm sure Panasonic has a replacement for the RP-82 in the works if it isn't already out. Based on my experience with the 62, I would encourage you to have a look at it.
Follow Ups:
I recently purchased the CP-72. Same decoder and capabilities as the RP-82, but it's a 5 disc changer. This was after I went looking for the RP-82 and couldn't find it. I am quite happy with its performance, and would highly recommend you give it an audition.
