Please recomend a few DVD's to help me convince friends and family that I haven't lost my mind by spending all this $$$ on a new HT set-up. Thanks.P.S., I have purchased Spider-Man, Saving Private Ryan and The Eagles-Hell Freezes Over.
Follow Ups:
Easy - Episode 2 : Attack of the clones.
Shrek's a great dvd to show off, especially in the DTS surround format.
The Imax ones are good, but not the sharpest in this collection. Ex audio though.
Show a few minutes on regular TV. Then rewind, turn on your system and buckle yourself in.....bullets flying everywhere, bombs, you name it. I had people looking over head as the helicopters flew "across the room"!
Super Speedway and The Living Sea for example.
...LOTR: Fellowship of the Ring, the (preferred) Extended Edition.Excellent picture quality and stunning sound, if you dare to risk it - FOTR will give your surround system, expecially the LFs an incredible work-out!
Band of Brothers. Any of the combat sequences. I think one of the standout scenes is the attack on Carentan on disc 2. Listen for all the little transients like glass breaking, bullets whizzing, tiny pieces of concrete raining down, etc. Truly awesome sound design.
XXX - The avalanche scene really shook my house!
