HiHere is the issue. I have a JVC TV and a JVC DVD and presently use the analog outputs of the DVD ( which automatically converts to 2 channel ) to the TV. I would simply like to buy 2 loudspeakers and a receiver to get better sound. I am not interested in surround and my serious listening is done on a highend system. I simply want better sound from my DVD's with as little hassle as possible.
This is what I do not understand. If I buy a modest Dolby receiver and use the digital outputs of the DVD player to the receiver and use the receiver as a control unit ( but only connect 2 speaker channels , will the receiver automatically adjust to an analog output or would I have to search to see if this is available on the menu from the DVD player. Maybe ut is simpler to just use an integrated amp with the analog out puts of the DVD?
Follow Ups:
If you use the DD receiver's speaker setup menu to define the fact that you only have 2 speakers connected, i.e. Fronts=Yes, Center=No, Surrounds=NO, and sub=No, then the DD receiver (Dolby Digital 5.1) will downmix everything to 2 channels for your L&R speakers automatically. This presupposes you connect the DVD player to the DD/DTS receiver with a digital connection, either a 75 Ohm RCA cable or a toslink optical cable.
