The Panasonic RP82. Even though it's pretty far from the best on account of it's ugly, flimsy, and sounds like a dog, it was named the "best" at being progressive. Now the "best," (that we know is not really the best) is selling on ebay for twice what it sold for new.Go figure.

Also looking at 2800mkII to run through 2 channel stereo sys . Are there any DVD players at a lower price point that can better the 2800mkII picture?
I am trying out the Denon 2800 II right now and have had it here for a week so far. The biggest thing I noticed was the audio. In comparison to the Panny RP-82 there is no comparison audio-wise, in the video sector, the Denon is only marginally better IMO.If you have a great 2 channel cd player already and are only concerned with video quality, go for the Panasonic. If you plan to utilize both audio and video in one system, the Denon would not leave much to chance at it's modest pricing.
Although not cheap by any means, the Denon 2800 Mk II is an excellent DVD player...One of the few at its price point where the quality of audio reproduction is on a par with the video...I plan to buy the 2800 Mk II next month as part of my HT system upgrade.
