Both de-interlace film well. But the Faroudja has better video de-interlacing. Plus it can handle source that has both video and film origin better.Sage, the owner of Faroudja, was recently aquired by Genesis Microchip, the powerhouse in the market for this kind of thing. They have the marketing and financial muscles to get companies to put their technology in cheap DVD players. Silicon Image is a mom and pop shop by comparison. If Genesis Microchip didn't aquire Sage, the license fee for DCDi would probably be outrageous.
