I've only heard B&K amps. Is that what you're refering to? In what ever speaker I hooked up the bass rumble & crisp highs were truncated. The frequency response was uniformly artefactless from 40hz-15kHz, but outside that envelope was anemic. Although, they'd be beautiful for KEF RDM2s. The HF roll off would tame the silk dome break-up nicely, leaving a satellite capable of tremendous dynamic-staging & pin-point imaging-detail.
hi,
no, meant the processors. Wringing every last bit of resolution out of movies is great, but even with my funky old pre/pro it continually surprises me how movies come to life. The theaters around here
are acoustically challenged, to put it politely. In stereo, i understand what you want, it makes perfect sense there. In movies, the old saw about diminishing returns kicks in faster, because they have less resolution to begin with ( by and large ). The conclusion, from where i sit, is to
put together a solid HT, but save the insanity for the stereo part of it.
Which is why i put myself to sleep counting high end preamps jumping over
a fence ;)
I read your post a couple times & it still makes no sense to me. I think it was grmmaticly challenged. What I want is soild imaging which HT is reknown for by using single real speaker for vocals & stereo-like image-steering from stage left to right & back. In a sense I want a dead stable crisp image that's entirely mobile.
I also want tube-like natural neutrality that generates enormous depth that my Krell will propell forward into a room, because I can't handle a too laid back image but adore depth.
hi,
i don't think that level of quality exists yet. My intuition tells me that current formats like Dolby Digital can't do it. Movie standards will likely continue to call for a flat freq response. The pleasant distortions that create stereo image, and depth, are not part of that world. Some smart guy may find a work around, but i haven't heard anything that even comes close to what you want.
you initially scared me with your title since I was never enthusiastic about Paradigm speakers, except the active line.
