I have an outlaw 1050...how high up on the food chain in Elite, Denon, or Marantz do I have to go to improve stereo performance...is it worth it? thanks
Follow Ups:
I believe you can use a large 5 channel amp with the outlaw. Like the 5 channel outlaw amp. Check with outlaw. I have the outlaw 950 with 770 amp (currently using only 5 channels) and it sounds pretty good. Although not as good (nor as $$$) as my two channel system.
I don't think you'll get a big improvement in stereo reproduction with those brands. If you can arrange a home-demo, consider adding a 2-channel power amp for the front L/R channels. For the price of an A/V receiver, you can afford amps by Rotel, B&K, NAD, Outlaw and others that might make an improvement in your 2-channel sound quality. I strongly suggest an in-home trial of anything before you buy.
The Outlaw is a pretty tough act to follow. It does lack component inputs and "only" has 65 watts/channel. But what do you want for $600? If you really want to go crazy, can I interest you in a new B&K AVR307 for a cool $3500? Inputs up the ying yang and 7 x 125 watts/channel. All this and more including an electric-cooled pony harness with fuel injection!
You will have to go much higher IMHO. Those that you mention are just more expensive.
Classe'?
