In Reply to: Is it common for DVDs to freeze? posted by tjdjok on February 20, 2003 at 11:55:04:
My Toshibas SD-9200 freezes when once in a while when I jump from one of those ultra fast scan (either ff or rev) to play. Pressing stop and play resolves that issue w/o losing my place. My other JVC seems to freeze on some occasions, but I haven't used it enough to notice when. It frequently has massive pixelation problem which is a non-issue on the Toshiba. But it could read the TOC of some disc in which the Toshiba has trouble with.
I presume it is because these are heavily software based unit and have to be brought into production ASAP due to their short lifespan, so frequently not all the bugs are worked out.
