HiI've been collecting heaps, mainly from Big Emma, over the last few years. I've acquired some real gems in among some awful rubbish. Anyone else addicted?
John
Opera and ballet, unlike an orchestra, have to be seen "in-person" for me to enjoy them. They are and always will need that first-person human factor, although I do admit I love to collect selected arias, overtures, etc. on CD.Shawn Harvey
Hi John, I too have become addicted, although I've managed
to cool it for the last 4 weeks to make equipment and
holiday season gift purchases. No doubt by the first week of Jan (or right after Christmas) I'll be up to my old
tricks again. Checking out Big Emmas, bidding frenzily at
Ebay and Amazon.com. I'm not much into ballet, but opera,
classical music performances and the jazz concerts (eg:Monterey Jazz festival) have all been taxing on the wallet. I've been pretty lucky out of all the discs I've purchased maybe only 2 or 3 have been duds for me. Sight and Sound has been pretty good to deal with also, and I've
found quite a few Mom and Pop stores online with rare (Out of Print, expensive) lasers. Yeap,I'm addicted and to my ears the sound on these lasers is "fuller" (90% of the time) to the "thinner" sounding dvd's that have begun coming out of the same performances.
Hi HaydenI agree with you re DVDs. So far most disappointing. Please make contact when you have a spare moment & we can swap ideas by email - could be too boring to post here for others to read.
