I've been doing my homework and it looks like HT rcvrs can only work with one type of connection at a time. I would like to go with all S-video, even if I have to sell my two old VCRs and get a new one with Svid, because it seems if you use RCA composite inputs on the rcvr, the video won't come out on the S-video output, and vice-versa. I have a nice Mits. tv, but the Svid input physically cuts out the RCA input, so hooking up both is futile, and I have a digital camcorder w/Svid outs (and ins? can't remember) that I REALLY like.Is this a limitation, of all or some rcvrs? Should I get a RCA-to-Svid convertor for the VCRS, or TV, or both? I just don't want to plunk down big bucks for a nice rcvr and be stunned by limitations that I can't forsee. Thanks in advance, all these boards are great.
No, I have a Sony 30ES it will do composite on one Bank and Svideo on the other, the two are in no way connected. This is the norm for all receivers. So ideally you need a TV with Two seperate inputs. What I did was run all composite and let the receiver do the swithing. When I watched a DVD I plugged in the Svideo for a better picture( what a pain). After about a year I broke down and bought a TV with four inputs and let the TV do the swithing.Sorry but home theatre is a Pain, and it won't get simpler. Component, Svideo, composite, Satalite, RF, and soon Firewire 1394.
