Follow Ups:
Just get a used Lexicon DC-1 with V4.0 upgrade. You can get one in $1200-$1300 range. There is nothing close in that price range out there. The only downside is it does not accept component video inputs. otherwise the used one i recently procured just simply performs head to head with my Pioneer VSX-49TX THX ultra2 $3000 receiver.
As an owner of a receiver with THX Select certification, I don't think you should let THX certification influence your decision. It's nice to have, but in a good system with good speakers and proper placement, THX is not necessary, IMHO. That said, I think the Outlaw is the ONLY pre/pro under $1000 with the features you seek.
I am looking for a similar piece.I don't care so much about DPL2,DTS or a Tuner and might get a used Lexicon DC-1 or maybe just a sony SDP-EP9ES.
The link to avsforum might help you tho.
