I have an 18 year old pair of Cerwin-Vega D5 main speakers and a pair of 10 year old Bose 2000 Interaudio (cheap) bookshelf speakers (rears?). I'm considering a 32" Sony LCD TV, a Sony STR-DA4 ES receiver, and an NHT SC1 center speaker. Does this sound OK, or should I replace the old speakers. I'll use the system for 50% audio, 50% video. All comments appreciated.

If you like the sound of your old speakers, there is no reason why this will not work. I have tried speakers from different manufacturers for the front, center and back and have had no negative comments from people who have listened to it. I tend to think that the center speaker is the most critical for HT.You did not mention any sub woofers in your post. That will be something that you will want for HT.
or at least the front speakers. Buy something that will voice match the center channel since those three works in conjunction with each other. You wouldn't want a left and right speaker to be of different mfg, neither should the center channel be.
