So I see from your note below the new Denon is OK. Would you please elaborate? When I get my speakers built I anticipate that my current processor/amp will not be up to the task and the denon is in the running. Bill

The TV stand is by Bellogetti (sp?)

http://www.audiomax-ltd.com/synergy.htmThe main speakers are Tannoy Definition D500's
http://www.tannoy.com/product.cfm?D=1&ID=33The main speakers do sound better driven by the CJ tube amp which is precisely the reason I wanted it integrated with the home theatre. I wanted the ability to listen to my music using the tube amp while still being able to use the H.T. w/o having to swap wires, amps, etc. With the theatre bypass mode on the CJ preamp, it was a breeze integrating the tube amp into the H.T. Aside from just listening to music, the tube amp does a great job with concert videos as well as "regular" DVD movies. The tube amp *does* have more punch, more weight, better clarity, than the Denon amp for driving the mains. If this were a H.T. only, the Denon amp would be sufficient though.
Man, I'd love to try to integrate my 2 channel and HT. (I also have a 34" widescreen.)
My speakers are easy loads so I'm probably not stressing the Denon receiver much. I'm happy with the Denon 3803 but the remote could be better. Most of the buttons are small and not easily "learned" by touch. I'm still getting used to it. I like the fact that this receiver "upconverts" all video inputs (s-video, composite, and two component inputs) to one set of component video outputs. This makes it real easy to hook up to the TV... just one set of component cables to the TV regardless of the various video sources going into the receiver. The receiver seems to have enough power to drive all the speakers sufficiently but in my setup, I'm using a tube amp for the mains. This is my first real A/V receiver so I can't provide a comparison to other brands. I bought Denon on the recommendation of a friend based on my budget. The store didn't have the new 2803 but I think I got an OK price on the 3803. Paid $899.
Nice set-up... :)I had an acrylic "shelf" made to fit the center under the TV, better imaging, the sound is not floating above the TV, and I actually also prefer the TV a little higher, I can stretch my legs on the table without getting on the way, and donīt have to look down when I lean back...
Antonio, how big and sturdy was that acrylic shelf? The TV weighs over 200 Lbs! I had the center speaker on the floor for a while tilted up slightly using hockey pucks under the front of the speaker but it just seemed to get in the way when I wanted to tinker with the receiver and I also had to hold the remote up high and point it down at the receiver. I finally got tired of doing that and placed the center up top.
Here is a pic of my setup, before the new center:

My TV is also heavier than 200 pounds, Loewe Vitros 32", I used 15mm thick acrylic, it is more than sturdy enough, but better safe then sorry...It has top, sides and bottom, open front and back, here is a lausy pic taken with my celular:

That pic was taken with your cellphone!? Not bad... neat toy!Where does one get custom acrylic work done? Should I look under "plastics" in the phone book?
Hi Abe:I'm very interested in the video up-conversion capabilities of the Denon 3800 series receiver. It's a new feature that, to me, makes a heck of a lot of sense.
Aside from the obvious convenience of only having one set of 'video' cables going to the TV, do you find that there are any significant video performance enhancements for non-component sources such as analog/digital cable or VCR?
As you know, the Denon 3803 (and some other models) have a feature that takes various video input sources from composite video VCR's or S-video, etc. and "upconverts" the signal out to it's component video output. This allows for running just one set of component video cables from the Denon to the TV as all the video signals come through that connection.I haven't really compared the video "upconversion" picture quality vs running S-video or composite video direct to the TV. I just recently placed a VCR in the setup so I might experiment with that. Running just one set of component video cables to the TV is a real convenience but I'm not sure if this "upconversion" actually helps picture quality from the other sources (like VCR composite video or S-Video).
If you ever do decide to play with your composite/S-video cables please let us know. I'll admit, in your position, I probably wouldn't bother.I suspect the upconversion feature is largely a convenience issue for composite/S-video hook-ups. Whether or not it's detrimental to component outputs (HDTV/DVD) is probably debatable... and would also be useful information.
I would connect the DVD directly with a better cable, leave everything else thru the receiver, but try if you can see any differences...

Good point... If the receiver is doing some magic "upconversion" to the various video inputs, I wonder if it is simply feeding the DVD component signal through or "processing" it too, possibly causing some harm to the picture quality. I'll run the DVD direct to the TV and see what happens.
Very cool setup there. Have you compared the sound of the mains driven by the receiver compared to your tube amp? Is the rack the tube amp is sitting on a DIY? Are your speakers 3-ways? Very slick. Well back to my speaker project, Thanks for sharing, Bill
Bill - - What kind of speakers are you building? For what purpose? For H.T. or audio or both?
North Creek Rythms for mains for music and HT. Rears will be Okara IIs, also NC. I'm building the OKaras as floorstanders, figured I'd just have to buy or build stands anyway. I'm aiming for fronts and rears to have tweeters at same height. Center will probably a NC rythm modified. All five will have scan speak 9500 tweeters and the three fronts will have identical drivers, 2-7" scan speaks per cabinet. I'm just doing final cabinet work of the Okaras hope to stain and varnish the speakers this weekend so first sound will be sometime next week. Then on to the Rythms.
That is a gorgeous setup. What kind of rack is that to the left?
