I have a 5 channel set up. Sony dvp 9000es player, Proceed PAV-PDSD processor, Classe CAV 7500 6 channel amp, Sonus
Faber Concerto Home Mains, Solo Home Center and Wall
Home Surrounds. Basic space is 14 wide, 18 long with moniter on one narrow end. The room is open on half of one side and the back wall is really a series of arches that
don't leave much room to hang speakers on. We sit 6 feet from the rear wall.I have been using rear channels since the dolby matrix surround days with a variety of speakers and rooms so I probable have tried every side wall, rear wall and ceiling approach for direct radiating speakers. I'm kind of striking out with this room with side or rear wall placement. Don't get the fill I want without too much directivity.
I have been thinking about trying some coax in ceiling speakers, probably from KEF. I was inspired by the Thiel offerings but not at that price for this application. Anyone tried a coax for rears? Any other comments on the set up would be welcome. Know how much the kef Ci 200 Q SR speakers cost or an on line source?

I have mine like this, and they fill the room very well, I donīt like the surrounds close to the listening position...

You might want to try a set of dipole radiators for filling out the sound more. Put one of each side and one in the back and you should notice a difference.Infinity and Polk both make models that can probably be heard before you buy them. Axiom also has a few models that are probably ok considering the raves they get for the rest of their stuff.
You might want to try placing the speakers directly behind the sitting area with the speakers pointed towards the ceiling.
