Is it possible to connect two(2) dvd players(one with a digital coaxial cable and the other with a digital optical cable) to an a/v receiver with just 2 digital inputs(1 coaxial and 1 optical) which are both on the dvd section on the back of the receiver without doing any harm to anything? The a/v receiver allows me to tell it what type of input is being used for the dvd section(coaxial, optical or both) which in this case, I would select both so that the receiver would automatically detect what type of digital signal is being used. BTW, I won't be using both dvd players at the same time anytime, since I know for sure that it would cause problems.
Follow Ups:
#1 Why are you using 2 DVD players?#2 Select "both" and only have one on at a time-- it'll work fine. I use this setup with the system in the living room. Processor input 1 has both -- coax and Toslink connections. I use the coax for the DVD player and the Toslink for the LD player. This way I don't have to select any other input to use either source.
Well one is a Sony Playstation 2(also a dvd player) and the other is a dvd player, I would prefer the digital optical connection over the rca line-level connection since I would enjoy my games in DD, DTS, Pro-Logic(II).
are so cool. Remember Pong? Ahhh, technology...
