In Reply to: Progressive scan on Gamecube... is it worth buying HDTV for it? posted by mxo on March 15, 2003 at 11:46:13:
To the best of my knowledge, the only game in "ProScan" at the moment, is The Legend of Zelda: Wind Waker. In addition, the only component cables available (in limited quantity) are the Nintendo brand cables. Monster Game Cables are not making GC Component Cables!! I have a Mits HDTV and I run my XBox and PS2 through Component for a handful of "ProScan" games, and they are AWESOME!!I had a 27" Sony Wega and it had component video inputs. The component inputs alone won't enable progressive scan. You need a TV that is HD-Upgradable or HD-Ready.
Follow Ups:
Actually, ALL first party nintendo games for the gamecube run in progressive scan. A few prominent third party developers are enabling the video mode as well. So about half of the gamecube games available run in progressive scan mode. Yes, it is worth it to buy an HDTV and the Nintendo component cables. The Nintendo component cables are available only at nintendo.com and they are not hard to get, it is just an ignorant rumor that those who don't own a gamecube use.
