Um, have you looked at HT receiver prices lately?I can't think of any good reason to upgrade your old Pro-Logic receiver with a 'newer' old Pro-Logic receiver. Fact is, you can purchase a very competent, Dolby-Digital/DTS/Pro-Logic II receiver NEW for $500-$700. Denon, Marantz, Onkyo, H/K all make very nice mid-model line pieces.
With HT receivers, most of your money goes into the digital processors and circuitry. Why upgrade unless you are going to get at least semi-current technology (99% of receivers with Dolby Digital built-in have 6 channel inputs for upgrades anyway)? If 2-channel is your priority, you'd be better served with an integrated amp.
