If I'm not mistaken, the Sony VPH VW10HT is fully HD compatible, and at a cost of about $5500, such as through medicalvideosystems.com Get more details at www.thebigpicturedvd.com/cgi-bin/vw10ht.cgi including the archived messages. The FAQ section is not up yet. It has native 16:9 panels, 1000ANSI lumens, accepts mutiple scan rates including various progressive rates. Spec sheet is located at www.medicalvideosystems.com/monitors/vplw10htspec.htmCheck it out!

I'm sorry, I'm not familiar with lcd displays. I was talking about projection sets. The lcd may be a real winner for this application. I saw a string above that gets into controversy about the attributes of a Sony unit. Possibly you were involved on that string. I will look into the lcd for my own reference. It should, at least be compared with the low cost projectors before choosing one. I don't know how many nearby dealers have such a set to check out. What I meant was that most of the low cost projector sets are 4:3 only and have 7" CRTs which are incapable of 1080i resolution and only have one native resolution (1080i) which they translate by various schemes. Some have trouble with one or more input modes from high end dvd players. Some similar insufficiencies apply to various high end dvd players and receivers. It is really a tough job to get all the needed features and not pay for duplicate capabilities at various points along the chain. Thanks for your comments. I think they added a lot of food for the original poster to consider.
