I am looking for a center channel speaker (up to about US$300) which is strong in the area of dialogue intelligibility and clarity. I read somewhere that some speakers are good at projecting effects and ambient details but not so good with dialogue. I place higher priority on dialogue so could I have your recommendations please.
Follow Ups:
very, very pleased with it. It actually transformed my HT system.
It's very compact compared with others which was a big consideration for me.
Music is Emotion
do not look for the MTM design (mid-tweeter-mid) since this causes lobing (unless the crossover is set low - 1.5KHz or lower). Look for one with Tweeter, Mid driver in the middle and two (or more) bass drivers at the ends. (examples are Aerial acoustics cc3, cc5, Rockets 300 center, Swans C3, B&w HTM1/HTM2)
For the sake of continuity, look first for a center speaker made by the same manufacturer as your front speakers. Mixing front loudspeakers can cause some funny stuff to happen as the action/dialogue moves from one side of the screen to the other. Since speakers can have different timbral characteristics, mixing and trying to match can be a real challenge.
