So now you're implying that I don't own the DVD player that is being discussed here? Well, you're dead wrong. Go harass somebody else, ass hole. BYE.

No need to resort to name calling. I simply responded to your earlier question which asked if I had a problem. I explained to you in very clear English the nature of my concern. Unfortunately, you choose to read more into it than was intended. I sense is that perhaps you're the one with the problem. Sometimes the truth hurts, doesn't it Honest Abe? Well, even if it does it's still the truth.
I originaly posted this message for some advice and I'd like to thank evryone who gave me advice. I don't think there is any need to start calling each other names. That's ridiculous. Anyway my point of this message is that I decided to bid on a dvd-3800 on ebay and won the auction today on ebay for $497.22. I think that's a pretty good deal. So Thanks again for those who answered my original message.
Thanks
Ben
do you know the build date? The DVD3800 does many things right, but the first models out the gate have serious DVD-ROM drive problems. The player skips, locks-up and gets very hot to the touch. Discs come out rather, um... "toasty". Denon has some updates available (though you have to send them the unit and turnaround may take 6 - 8 weeks). The drive needs to be replaced and I believe one or two other things have to be updated.I believe the units dated December 2002 and on are OK, but you may want to do a "long" search in the "DVD Hardware" section on AVS Forum just to be sure. If it's a pre-December 2002 build date, you may have won someone else's headache.
I've had my denon 3800 for about a month now and it works great (knock on wood). It does get warm but not hot, and the dvd's get warm like a cd after running for 2 hrs but not hot to touch, so it seems that I got a jem and not a headache.
Thanks
Ben
The date on the model I purchased is August 2002. He purchased it however six months ago. The seller does state that he has never had any lock up problems or chroma bug issues. I did ask him that before I bid on it and he has 100% feedback for 140 items sold. So I'm pretty confident that he's telling the truth. I did read some thing about the 3800 on the website you forwarded to me. Some people said they have never had any problem with the machine and others have said they've had tones so I guess I'm really going to have to wait and find out. But thanks for your concerns. I'll add another message when I get my player and let you know how it's working.
Thanks
Ben
