I looked up the Ovation+ on their website, but didn't find one. However, they did have the Encore, Ovation & Signature. And, since my dealer informed me that the Ovation+ is a regular Ovation with a Signature's digital board, I looked that up. The Signature has only 20bit Burr-Brown DACs. I cease to understand. Can anyone shed some light on the subject?
hi Mart,
in the current Widescreen Review, there is an interesting comment praising those Burr Brown's. The writer seems to be trying to slam other dacs by saying nice things about those. It is in controllers part 4. If what he says makes sense to you; maybe you could explain it to me.
is it online somewhere?
hi Mart,
not that i know of. Just went over to Borders ( a chain much like the one lampooned in "You've Got Mail" complete with cappicino. I love it, actually, you can listen to a lot of music. Hardly ever buy anything new anymore, if i don't hear at least some of it first.
Btw, a small college just dumped their lp's on a charity. I got over 40 classical records, most in good shape, quite a few unplayed. This week they are on sale for 50 cents per. Oh yeah, this is in Portland Maine.
There is classical of all sorts, but also a ton of opera. If you know of anyone interested, i can give directions.
Anyway, i think the opinion of the author is that you have the best dacs available in your processor.
I had the same question. I'm paraphasing what I was told
It is EADs contention that the Burr Brown 1702 DAC is still the best on the market. EAD said that if you call Burr Brown they will confirm that the 20-bit 1702 is still their best DAC.It is EADs opinion that at this point in time 24 bit is mostly hype. EAD said that many products claim 24 bit resolution, but really can't resolve anywhere near 24 bits. In other words they can read it but it's not what you get at the outputs. EAD said their products are true 20-bit machines.
EAD said they will not support "true" 24-bit resolution until all standards are firmed up.
he would stock CL-25s until they provide more outputs like the CL-20. I was so disapointed. I was hoping CAL rectified DVD's picture with 6 graphic engines.
