I'm a video neophyte. I have a Sony KP53V80, and wonder what (if any) line doubler I can use. It has S-video and component video inputs, no progressive scan inputs.
There are very few RPTVs that can accept line doubled input -- which would require the progressive scan inputs that your set doesn't have. They don't scan at a rate high enough to move from interlaced to progressive scan. That is one of the claims to fame of the Runco rear projection TV, as well as some of the newer HD compatible sets on the market like the Pioneer Elite, etc.
Incidentally, I have just seen the new Toshiba progressive scan DVD player hooked up to both the new Pioneer plasma screen and their Elite HD rear projection set (using component connection). Wow! While DVD is not HDTV, the picture was really, really nice.
Check the Music Direct catalog, they sell line doublers
Oh, sorry. There might be some else on the web that sells such things. Anyone have a suggetion??
