To take full advantage of the 5900, you'll need a next generation receiver or pre-pro. Don't sweat it - your 2900 and 3803 will serve you very nicely for the year or so it'll take for the nexgens to arrive and become affordable. Nice picks, by the way.

Hello Austin -What do you mean by 'next gen' pre-pro for supporting the full capabilities of the upcoming Denon 5900?
I'm currently running the Denon 3803 with the Denon DVD-1600. I'm very pleased with this setup but ultimately I'm hoping to replace my dedicated (somewhat high-end) CD player with DVD player that can match it or do better at CD audio playback - something I haven't found yet in a DVD player.
Abe,Next generation AV receiver/pre-pros will have four features that distinguish them from current generation units.
1. Digital hirez interface (industry-standard 1394 iLink)
2. Native digital processing (Multi-level Bass Management, Time Alignment and Automatic Room Equalization) for all sources especially multi-channel hirez (DVD-A and SACD)
3. DVI/HDMI video switching
4. Video upconversion (composite/S-video/component to DVI)
The digital hirez interface and full digital processing are the biggies from an audio standpoint. The "jitterless" digital interface between universal transports and nexgen processors will optimize acquisition and processing for all digital audio media (CD/DVD-A/SACD). Pioneer looks likely to be first out of the gate but keep your eyes on Denon - I expect them to agressively challenge Pioneer's lead.
You also answered my question about how to handle more than one DVI capable source.... As it stands, my TV has but one DVI input and my receiver has no DVI switching. It does, however, have upconversion to component video which makes the video wiring a lot easier for the time being.
