  I did that for a year before I bought my dedicated pre/pro. Use the pre-outs. The external amp made a big difference.

  i believe you mean use it as a preamp and connect it to an external amp, if so YES. in this set up you'd be using the 3802 as the preamp and have to run everything through it.
