I have a Sony 50" projection HDTV capable TV. It has dual YPbPr inputs anlong with a host of others but only one DVI input. I am going to get a V, Inc. DVI DVD player which will consume the single DVI jack. What do I do when HDTV finally arrives?
Follow Ups:
Get a SOTA progressive DVD player. While you're at it a unit like the Philips dvd963sa will provide superb sound at the same time, though it's a little pricy. Save the DVI input for your HDTV source. Don't believe what thay say about DVD through DVI being like HDTV. It can't be-look at the specs. Though it can be terrific. In any event, that's what I did.
Besides there are only 2 players with DVI output and each has been reported to have problems.
i have read all the reviews I could find on the V, Inc Bravo unit, but have never seen anything on the Samaung unit.
.
that someone posted over at AVS:
OUCH!...Before I spend money on a switcher, I would first make sure that there is difference in playback between component and DVI.
On my RPTV, which has 2 DVI inputs, use of a digital input in the "pure digital" mode (which can be turned off or on), will give up some control of picture fine adjustments. Of course the Bravo is suppose to kick butt using its DVI...let us know how it works out.
There are some high-end, high dollar surround sound processors on the market that have multi-DVI inputs. We should start seeing DVI switchers out in the consumer side or the industry this fall.
