Does anyone know of or heard of any reliable news if Sony is going to go up to a 36", 40" or larger version of the gorgous picture on the 34"xbr910.Not sold yet on plasma but 34" is still a bit small...
Thanks,

Haven't heard a word, but judging by what is already out there, I suspect that direct view 16X9 CRTs have maxxed out at 34". Current sets at this size are manufactured by Sony, Panasonic, Phillips, and Toshiba. In fact, the 34" CRT actually preceded its smaller version, the 30".
I agree with the other comment--weight constraints, not to mention size constraints, make manufacture of a larger set prohibitive. I would think that Sony's 40" 4X3 set is the maximum for a direct-view CRT.The manufacturers assume if you want a bigger picture, then you need to go with another technology, and there are plenty of them: RPTV of various kinds, LCD, plasma, and front projector.
How will anyone move it?
A 40" 16/9 should weigh what? 375lbs
