Hi,
I had a problem with my Toshiba 57H81 not being able to detect signal from Philips DVD726 progressive scan dvd player. When I set the dvd player to output progressive, the monitor just gave me a black screen and displayed a message that I should check the connection and make sure that the monitor was progressive scan compatible. I checked the component connection many time but no luck. However, when I didn't set the dvd player to output progessive but still used the component connection, the monitor displayed pictures just fine. Is it because that the monitor is not progressive compatible?
I really appreciate your time and answer.
Martin

It may have some setting that locks out a progressive scan signal. My Panasonic 47WX49 has an "auto" setting that detects whether the input is progressive or not. Just a thought.
