I came reciently picked up a set of Seeburg DDS1 speakers that are pracyicaly mint! What is the story on these things? I have been unable to locate any real information on them. It appears that they may have been manufactured for Seeburg by Altec? It looks like from the codes on the wooffers that they are Utah speakers. The horns are Altec. Any information including what they may be worth would be great! on a 1-10 scalr it would rate them between 9 and 10
Follow Ups:
The ones I've seen used Altec horns and compression drivers and cheaper, but competant woofers, maybe Utahs, I dunno. The Altec parts were usually 806 drivers on 811 horns, horns and drivers probably worth $250-$400 a pair, it varies. Check Ebay.
Those speakers were sold by Seeburg in the late 60's as extension
speakers for their jukeboxes for locations with large rooms and
dance floors. I thought all the Drivers were Altec, but i may have
assumed that knowing the horn was Altec and that Seeburg used
Altec coaxials in their home Lp Jukebox console.
They were quite expensive at the time, don't know what they are worth,
but I have seen beat-up ones sell for around 200.00.
