Hello.I just picked up a pioneer dv-09.
What is the best way to send video to the tv? s-video or coaxial(my tv isnt component compatable unfortunately!) Ive heard s-video is supposedly better but Ive been using the coaxial(or rca or whatever its called) because the cable is superior. Should I invest In a decent s-video cable, or is there really not that much difference?Im using headphones so audio is kinda not very optional at this point. Im just more into two channel, as I started off HT but went to two channel as that was the majority of my listening.
thank you for any info, Im new to the aspect of the video part of it(on the higher level I mean).
Thank you!
k.s.

Thanks a bunch!
can you guys recomend a good after market s-video cable?
MarkerTek's house TecNec brand is made out of top notch Belden S-VIDEO cable, and nice connectors to boot. See link below.Hope this helps!

Go for the THX S/Video Monster Cable (Ultra is best but standard is also good and cheaper)
I have the component version and i was astounded by the diference in quality i got over other component cables i had.
But search the 'net for the best price. I've seen 1 meter for $38.
coax
s-video
componetThats the order for best hookups. componet being the best at the moment.
DVI is more about copy protection. AFAIK
Like everything else, it depends on implementation by the source and the display.Case in point, the Samsung HD931 and Bravo D1 DVD players. Samsung misunderstood the specs (used computer DVI instead of video DVI) and thus got the implementation wrong. The Bravo D1 got it right.
Done correctly , a DVI output gives you the capability to go from compressed digital YPbPr on a DVD (MPEG) to uncompressed digital RGB at the DVI output directly to the RGB processor input in the display without any analog processing, extra D/A - A/D conversions and associated cables in between.
The DVI can be substantially better than even the component. I can switch between the two on the fly. The definition is much higher.
