Not having any component cables, out of curiosity, I tried three audio cables with RCA connectors (Kimber Kable Silver Streak). Looks ok, but no better than the S Video (Tara Labs) cable I had used before.Wonder what the differences are between audio and video component cables.

Video cables are coax design with a specific impedence, plus they would contain shielding for both RF and LF blocking. Some would even come with impedence matched connectors for signal integrity.Audio cables could be of any design, from twisted pair, unshielded, 2 completely seperate wires, coax, etc. So it all depends on how the audio cable were build.
Also, progressive output from source component could only be transmitted via component connections, not S-video.
Just wondering.
but you could get sub-par performance and/or degradation.
