to buy? Anyone have any luck ordering on-line? I am looking for a combination of around $1500 and on-line. Hard to find unit as this time. I appreciate any advice or recommendations. Thanks
Follow Ups:
I bought a 5900 from a local authorized dealer and brought it back two weeks later for a refund as it had the infamous transport grinding/lockup of the player one time for seemingly no reason and also had major macro blocking in dark scenes of at least 6 movies that I played through it.I no of a dealer that had these for 1500.00 + shipping but I reccomend buying it where you can take it back as mine was not just an isolated case and this has been reported by many owners.
I t seems that digital displays...DLP in my case tend to have more macro blocking problems than crt displays....buyer beware.
you can try searching via the link below. Typing Denon DVD5900 in the search function reveals a few online vendors in the low $1500 range. Always check the shipping charges: many online vendors like to play games .You might want to ask about warranty issues, should you need repair or replacement of the unit. Denon has been getting strict about authorized dealer only service. It may not be needed: I'm just giving you something to think about. See the www.denon.com site for more information.
This is what I found using DealTime but I have no experience buying from any of these guys. I saw a barely used DVD-5900 up for sale on Audiogon for $1500 (including shipping, I think) from a guy who just lost his job.
I was actually looking for someone who had purchased one. I have seen it as low as $1499 but it is not in stock yet and is on a preorder basis only. I am in Canada and it seems to have been released here first for a change but none that I can find in Vancouver. People in Ontario seem to have access but I can't seem to track down where they bought it. Thanks again.
