I've a Sony LDC projector and I'm trying to connect the DVD player via component video. Right now all I'm getting is bluish picture. The component video interconnect I'm using is Monster cable and it's about 16' run.
The SVHS connector is working fine so there's no problem on that one.
Could you please tell me what I am doing wrong.1. Is the 16' run cable is too long for this application?
2. Does the cable needs time to burn in?
Follow Ups:
as it turns out the DVD player's component video output is not functioning well. This player was cheap I bought it mainly for my son's DVD movies. I'm just going to use it using its Y/C output connector which is fine. Sigh...I supposed you pay for what you get.
If you are using a progressive scan DVD Player, you will need to set your input type to DTV. If you have a non-progressive DVD Player, you will need to change the input type to COMPONENT.It sounds like you have a non-progressive DVD player and your input type is currently set to DTV.
You're right it's a non progressive scan DVD player. But the LCD projector input is set to component video. So in theory I should be getting the video color correct or am I wrong in assuming this?
If you are set to Component, then the color should be correct. If not, you may have a problem with your projector or your component out on your DVD Player.
If I had to guess I would say that you have a couple of the colors crossed -or- you're missing one of the colors - possibly RED. Double check your connections.
Abe. I've checked and checked everything is connected correctly. I've noticed though that if I undo the blue connector the video becomes gray also if I undo the red connector the video is gray as well. But once I connect all the 3 connectors together everything becomes bluish.
When you disconnect the blue/Pb connection, you see gray because the red/Pr connection has a signal problem (ie, seeing gray means you're only getting the Y signal).Where is the problem? It could be the Pr input on the projector, the Pr output on the DVD player and/or the cable you're using for that part of the component signal.
To rule out the projector and the DVD player, leave the green/Y cable connected and take the blue/Pb cable and connect it at both ends to the red/Pr connectors. If the picture looks reddish, your red/Pr cable is bad. If it's still gray, then the projector and/or the DVD player has a problem with the red/Pr signal.
Ok. I'll try it tonight. But what if the projector and/or the DVD player has a problem with the red/Pr signal? What shall I do then?
One bridge at a time, please.
