In Reply to: Is component connection visible over S-video on a basic 32" TV? posted by CW Morse on November 25, 2003 at 18:15:45:
The component conection over S-Video makes the images much less foggy. Colors are more defined and images are crispier, especially if you use good cabling. Try monster THX Ultra component or audioquest VDM-1.

While there IS a difference in quality between the component and S-video hookup on larger sets the improvement will probably be minimal at best on a 32" model, particularily on set that you're talking about.I purchased a pretty good Panasonic 27" for my mom last X-mas and I also bought her an $80 Toshiba DVD player last summer. I already knew that there's very little difference between the S-video and component video hookup on this screen size so my main concern was an S-video hookup when buying the TV. There's a much bigger jump in quality between composite and S-video than between S-video and component. I would always go with a component hookup on large TV's but I think it's a little overkill in the smaller sets.
