Hi People,I'm new to the DVD world and considering grabbing a player.
Can someone explain the term "PAL Progressive" for me
as the player I'm thinking of getting (Pioneer DV565a) doesn't
have it. Does this mean it doesn't support the full 625 lines or something?Cheers
Follow Ups:
Most DVD releases are in NTSC format, 425 lines?
Very few releases are in PAL format, 500+ lines?
Most analog video out are set to play in NTSC format anyways, and so is the TV's video in.
In order to play PAL or PAL progressive, the TV must accept PAL video in.
as I understand it it means that the signal coming out is doubled - virtually eliminates those scan lines. BUT you need a TV or whatever which will accept such a signal. For ordinary TVs it is less important. For big screen units & projectors it is virtually essential. So, if you have no future plans for a big screen unit, do not worry about it.
Cheers John! Unfortunately when I upgrade my 15 yr older 14" telly
I am thinking of a budget projector ( should be cheap when I get round
to it )
