Any comments on this seller? The model he is offering retails for $4,000+ yet he is selling for $1,654 including FREE shipping with mfgr warranty? His feedback shows only 2 transactions since 2000, and they were for him as a buyer - 2 softball bats, no less!! Is this a scam?

Apart from all the e-bay fraud stuff: Maybe you should reconsider to buy a plasma screen at ALL, since:
- light emission reduces FAST
- it has 'burn in' problems: unless you want other to know which channele you usually watch, this is not a wanted feature. (the icon of a channel or any other static picture gets 'burned in' after a whileIf anyone has other first hand experience that isn't in line with what I say here... feel free to reply. This is what I've been told by a philips insider...
...last I heard plasma life was something around 30,000 hours to 50% brightness - which isn't too bad - about 12-15 years of "normal" TV watching.Plasmas, as well as CRT rear projectors, are subject to burn-in, especialy if left in "torch mode" with contrast and brightness set too high. Most folks watch 4:3 material in zoom mode or use the orbit function.
I love my CRT 34" direct view Philips HDTV with Pixel Plus, but I don't think Philips is a leader in plasma technology. The best source for good info on plasmas is the plasma forum at www.avsforum.com
Now removed and will very likely be back.
Look for a few certain things to screen for frauds.TAKES WESTERN UNION ONLY OR PUSHES IT REAL HARD, even if other methods offered.

Registered in one country, located in another and/or Emails from a third country. Particular warnings on Netherlands, Portugal/Spain, Romania/ Slavic countries. These are real hotspots for fraud. Indonesia is in a class by itself for scams.
hidden bidders list.
COntact us first before bidding. (why???)
outrageous low price on hot item
Item or seller is now out of the USA.
TAKES WESTERN UNION ONLY. the hallmark of the scam. No Traceability.
Ask specific questions about the item, they usually KNOW ABSOLUTELY NOTHING about the item. For fun, ask a totally bogus question, like does it have the "Bronson transmogrifier?", that can get fun.
Wants to go outside eBay.
TAKES WESTERN UNION ONLY, can't emphasize enough.
The newer twist is using an "Online Escrow Company".
That's their way of assuring you that you won't get ripped off.
Hey, that's what Escrow deals are for right, they hold the $ until the buyer is satisfied, then they release the $ to the seller.Only problem is it's a phony Escrow company with an official looking webpage in cahoots with a seller.
It's a sure thing! You send your money and you never see it again...
