...video switching - at reasonable price? Would specifically need center, left & right balanced analog outputs; tubes would be a bonus! Wondering what the options are - am mostly a 2-channel guy, so please forgive this surround newbie.
Follow Ups:
I have one, it even accepts Progressive component, has balanced stereo inputs and 7.1 balanced outputs...And it is a very good pre if you want to use its analog bypass...
Price is highish, $4000, but not high for Krell, and for its features...

There is used to be a less pricey Proceed 2-box configuration which might work as well. Don't know if any of the aforementioned are still available after the Harmon hatchet job on Madrigal products though.
Not that I'm a fan of Sunfire...I'm also looking at DVI in lieu of Component but I'm pretty limited on DVI sources.
The only ones I know of are the Integra Research, top of the line Lexicon and Bryston. With the Bryston an external video switcher is required. The new Integra pre/pro has balanced outputs, but I am uncertain if it is a true balanced design. The pre/pro pickings are rather slim and very high priced compared to older stereo gear so I have stayed with a conventional high resolution stereo and a separate home theater. Good luck!
You're going to have to pinpoint what you're thinking in regards to "reasonable price" as something with all of those features will be very solidly in the 4 figure range if not higher.Any particular reason you want balanced outs? Is the sound quality that much better?
...(Avantgarde Solos) across the front, and wish to avoid XLR-RCA adapters. Really just looking for a list of pre/pros with this feature, along with component video switching, then I can naroow it down by price & sonics. I have a lot of coin tied up in my 2-channel system, which I spend much more time with than I do with video.
You could find anything in the world of audio.I use a balancing transformer (Jensen) to convert an unbalanced L/R signal from my pre/pro to feed a balanced power amp, across the room.
Another suggestion is forget the component switching, for the best video performance, go directly from source(s) to video monitor or use a high-end video processor for your switching.
