That's funny. My wife brought her 19" RCA into our marriage. Purchased about the same time as yours. It was a Christmas present from me.
Anyway, acouple of years ago I wanted a better picture and settled on the Sony Wega 27".
Picture quality is incredible after a Video Essentials session. Quite good before the session.
Has "anamorphic view" which improves the picture on anamorphic DVD's quite a bit.
RGB, s-video, and standard hookup.
Television has given me zero problems. As a matter of fact, when I do get another I'll probably get another Sony, 'cept this time It's gonna be a widescreen.
They can be had for around $400.00
The RCA now resides in our daughters bedroom.
I would start looking for open box returns at Circuit City,Best Buy etc, just after the holidays.I picked up a JVC 27 IN STD Def last year for under $300.Lots of good deals out there after Christmas.
You should be able to find a nice 32" model for that price or perhaps even a bit less. Toshiba and Panasonic make solid low-end models, and Samsung might even be worth a look. You'll be amazed at the improvement in enjoyment a bigger picture provides, especially watching letterboxed DVDs, and if the set has component or S-video inputs and you're playing DVDs, you'll also be astounded at the improvement in picture quality.
Check for floor models. I got a 32" Sony Trinitron about 8 years back for around $500. Still using it in the bedroom.
