With the addition of HDTV and higher grade DVD playback in my system, I have been looking to upgrade my component cables. While searching around different forums, I have seen a few posters praise silver core cables for video. Anyone have any thoughts ? Thanks !
Follow Ups:
Silver does help on some level to maintain even video signal. The most important item to look for in a good cable is AWG. HDTV component cables should be 18ga for the best results and video bandwidth.
the impedance of the cable, the dielectric and the smoothness of the surface of the conductors probably all outweigh the having a solid silver conductor. I think most of the best video cables have a silver coating so silver on the surface of the conductor does help, but since the signal is such a high frequency and such low power, the signal probably doesn't penetrate the wire like analog wires.
