I read a post this morning (1/1/04) on Audioreview about the Sony KF-50WE610 saying that there is a product recall. I have also read a couple of posts that the set cuts off after about a week or two of use. A manager at Circuit City also told me that they have had a lot of complaints of the same type on sets they have sold over the last couple of weeks. I know the set is on back order from Sony at this time. I ordered one yesterday from Sears. Should I be concerned about the long term durability of this set? I compared it to Samsungs DLP sets and I prefer the picture on the Sony. Has any one experianced the problem or had any experiance with this set?
Follow Ups:
They began making Grand Wega III TV's in September 2003. Many owners reportedly problems, mainly related to lamp/lamp-positioning problems that caused buzzing and/or no turn-on. These reports have gotten rarer and rarer as Months went on. Sometime after September/October, things seem to have settled down. I haven't heard much(any?) problems with November/December made models.I own a December made 60WE610, and so far so good. I'm kind of glad the "backorder" forced me to wait, leaving me with a December model...

Could you provide a link to the specific message? I tried to find the original message but couldn't.
Thanks,

Look at audioreview.com and search KF-50WE610. You should find the post there. I'm simply inquiring, not stating an actual recall.
