what DVD players are capable of 1080i via component output
Follow Ups:
The Norcent DP-501M will scale to 1080i (but not 720p) via
component outputs.To buy: http://www.computers4sure.com/product.asp?productID=1853908&info=Tech#tabs
No DVD player outputs true 1080i but some are capable of up scaling to 720p & 1080i.
As stated above, the Bravo D1(D2 soon), Momitsu V880, Denon 5900 and the Pioneer 59avi
can upscale but only through their DVI or HDMI outputs.
A separate scaler will be required to do it via component.
The LiteOn 2001 is out of producion but can be found used on Ebay sometimes. It will do 1080i from it's component outputs. I have read that the new model from LiteOn will not.
Check out the new player from Pioneer. It looks like it converts 480p material to 720 or 1080i.

None. DVD is not an HDTV medium. There will be another generation of DVD players using a higher level of laser technology and squeezing more data onto the disk.
Check out the newest player from Samsung. I think it outputs an HD signal but only via a DVI output.
There are quite a few 1080i output DVD players, most using Sigma's 8500 chip. These players scale up the DVD to output 720p, 1080i, or even 1:1 pixel match for digital PJs. Bravo, Momitsu are a couple. See AVS forum for much more info.
