I want the ability to take Standard definition and high definition broadcast from Cable(and/or satellite and/or OTA) and also DVD sources and feed my display a single signal at 720p or 1080i, preferably with DVI but also with component video. The de-interlacing/scaling needs to be of the same caliber as good Faroudja/Silicon image implementations. At the moment I have a cable HD tuner feeding 1080i to the (720p-native HD2 DLP) display. I think a Meridian G98 DVD-A player which does upsampling (HDMI/component) and includes a component video input might work. This solution is a tad pricey ($6000 or so). Are there other solutions I might consider ?
Follow Ups:
What are the best ways to upconvert a Standard Definition tv signal to a high definition monitor... The artifacts and fuzziness is driving me crazy.line doubler? scaler?
Agreed. I can barely tolerate SD on my Front projector; even with digital broadcasts. Hence reason to look for solutions. I'm sure Faroudja et al have megabuck scaler "solutions" to try out....
.
do any of the other scalers work and are they worth the money? (such as the briteview, centerstage, or dvdo)
.
$1499 would be nice. Now where have I seen that number before?
Wait, don't tell me. Give me a minute here. Damn memory...
:-)
I added my name to their mailing list (my mailing list request also contained a request to consider 1366x768 in their standard image output; there are many Sonys with 1366x768) and they replied that I would be hearing something soon...
.
Now I'm waiting for more info on this product. Still need a good DVD-V solution with DVI; probably will hold out for DVD-A capability too.
