Gotta question.........if you come out with a toslink out of your DVD player to a processor, are there any audio differences between DVD players when watching movies or would they all be about the same being that all the digital processing is happening in the pre-pro and not the DVD player?
Follow Ups:
and found Big differences in the sound. I used the same toslink, just moving it between players. I compared a Sony S7000 (reference DVD, probably the best interlaced DVD player ever made) to a Sony NS700P (Progressive Scan player) and a Bravo D-1 (best DVD picture I have seen). The S7000, a three year old DVD player, sounded MUCH better than the others. There really is a difference, sometimes a big difference.
We did compare a few players connected to a TAG processor via coaxial, and they all sounded very different, some quite poorly...

I've found Toslink to be a bit colder and more analytical compared to coax (18 gauge OFC copper conductor). I tend to prefer metal to glass but YMMV.
