Hi,
I'm researching buying a HDTV plasma or lcd tv (wife won't let me get a monitor). It must fit within my cabinet, which has an internal width of 43.5 inches (height 37.5 inches). The distance from the set to the primary viewing spot is about 12-13 feet. So, from what I've seen 2 candidates are the Sony KE42TS2 (which is being phased out) and the new Sharp 37" lcd 1 bit set. Does anyone have any opinions on the above choices; or a new idea? Also what would be a high quality dvd/cd player to buy (can spend up to $3000).
thanks!

I'm no expert . . . but I assume you have weighed the pros & cons of LCD vs. plasma. There is a lot more info at www.avsforum.com, but under the plasma/LCD subdivision, much discussion is devoted to plasma--i.e., there are a lot of happy plasma owners.LCD at larger sizes is just breaking into the market. In addition to the 37" Sharp, you might consider the Samsung 40" LCD TV--largest out at present. LCD is lighter and burns less energy, but critics point to the limited viewing angle (170 degrees at most) and lack of dark blacks. I'm waiting on the side lines, & I think LCDs are becoming more attractive.
Full high definition LCD 1920 X 1080 are on their way.
As for a DVD player, I habit the audio forum so I'm inclined to universal players. Denon DVD-5900--at MSRP 2,000 is a great unit, & plays all audio formats. Make sure you get DVI connection on both DVD player and video display device.
