I'm sure a number of the inmates have been successful on this -- how about posting success stories so we can benefit from the shared knowledge?Say what you want about ebay and online dealers, but the reality is that I've been looking at the 50" Pioneer Elite and the differential in price between online and local brick-and-mortar stores is nearly $5000! It is really tough to pass on the discounted pricing.

As of new models released in December 2003 and on, if you don't buy from an authorized dealer, Pioneer will consider your warranty null and void. Go to www.pioneerelectronics.com and you will get a "pop-up" that explains this policy. Same with Fujitsu. So what will it be if you purchase one of these models -- Pioneer's warranty from an authorized dealer or no warranty from a non-authorized dealer?
Make sure that $5000 difference in price is for the same make and model. Some of the numbers are close, but not the same. With a price difference that great, I suspect the models that you are comparing may not be the same. It's possible, though extreme, so just check to be sure.
