Hello
I've had trouble connecting this player to my new Toshiba 24AF43 TV. Power comes on, but it won't show the setup screen or play CDs. I've tried the cables that came with it connected to the standard outlets in the TV (Left, right, video) as well as with better cables and the component outlets. Nada. Before I return the machine, any ideas what I might do? And should I give Panasonic another chance, or move to a Pioneer DV-363, which is in the same price range ($160 CDN)?
Looking forward to your options

Jay, I was wondering if you could give me some information on hooking up the S35 DVD player. I'm having the same trouble where it won't show the setup screen. I tried your solution but it doesn't seem to work.
Probably a silly question, but it's been the problem for many of my customers who don't read the manual.Otherwise, the lower priced players are like a lucky dip. Most have very basic transport mechanisms (most stemming from the same factory) so it's pot luck if they work right off the bat.
Hi
Thanks for taking the time to reply. The solution is to press the TV/Video button four times, which links to the DVD component output.
Meanwhile I have another problem, which I'll post separately.
