Are there any dvd players below $100 that are decent? Cutting to the chase, it won't be used much. There are a lot of players below $100, but I don't want one that will only work for a month and then die. The most important feature is decent to good audio CD playback. Also, it is important that it is black or dark grey. Silver would stick out like a sore thumb since all my other audio and video components are dark.So far I've considered the Panasonic DVD-S25K, Samsung P231 and P222, AMW P460, and JVC XVS400BK. All are $80 or less. There is an Onkyo DV-SP301 available for $150. Would it be worth twice as much?
Any opinions would be appreciated. My apologies to the real HT afficianados. This is not a question worthy of your notice. But, basically, I'm just a two-channel audio guy.
Follow Ups:
One good thing tht works in your favor is that most of the big boxes have a pretty liberal return policy. A short drive should allow you to pretty much pick and choose what the true winner is.Also, consider that if you are using a HT receiver you have the option of using it's internal DAC instead ot that in the DVD unit.
If you can go a little more for a LOT more, AudioAdvisor is offering a Pioneer that plays virtually ANY 5 1/4 disc. (DVD, DVD-Audio, SACD, Redbook, etc...) but it's $179.
That being said, I got a Toshiba 2805 (changer) for $99 at a local 6th Avenue a little overa year and a half ago and it works quite well for audio purposes.
