I do have cablevision io with the hd box(EXPLORER HD4200) SCIENTIFIC ATLANTA. I also have the SONY WEGA 50" LCD. The first tv I returned because of a burned out pixel. Im hearing alot of complaints about the tv, I havent had problems yet and its a awesome tv. The hd channels that we do have look great. Ive had the tv since early December and I did buy the extented warrenty. If i have problems with the tv in the future im really considering going back to Circuit City and getting a different Brand or a newer Sony lcd my tv was made in Nov 2003
I did notice about the tv : If you turn it off and want to turn it right back on there is a delay. I leave it off for a couple of min. and turn back on

Hi Tony
Are you saying the newer sets are more reliable?
What do you think about the non-hd picture quality?
BTW,I think whether its Sony, Samsung, Panansonic its all mass market stuff. You just have to get lucky in getting a good, reliable set off their production line. Its not the same as buying a $4k piece of highend audio gear.
From what ive been reading on some reviews there are some problems. Ive contacted Sony and there saying there is no recall. I guess alot of people are really fast to give a bad review then a good one. I love the tv so far. Ive heard the newer sets are more reliable. who knows the truth. As far as the non hd channels i have cable vision which the lower channels are (2-80) analog channels. A good picture but not of course as good as the hd channels. When people are over and they see the hd channels and its being broadcast in hd people cant believe how good it looks.

Did you buy the extended warrantee? The Cc website say $499 for 4 years.
Did you have it calibrated or was the picture out of the box just fine?

Emil
