I live in Toronto and am just starting my search for an AV receiver in the $800-1,000 range. Was wondering where fellow Torontonians like to shop. I am interested in good prices (And if possible advice) from the store where I shop. Does anyone use mail-order in Canada or from the U.S.? Also would love to have any suggestions for a receiver in the price range mentioned.

There are several high end dealers in Toronto, that do a decent job & offer advice. Remember, you have to pay for the store & advice via higher prices than on the internet. Here are my faves:
Audio One on Steeles
Executive Stereo on Yonge across from the Art Shoppe.
I am in Mississauga and have purchased most of my gear online.
You do not have your system listed here, so I do not know where you are going with it. Personally, I would NOT buy an AV reciever. Sound quality is most important to me. But if I was to get one in your price range, I would buy a used Denon AVR-3300. There are 2 on ebay and 1 on audiogon. If you need more features, look at newer models. The 3300 has it all (for me). Forget about advice from any GTA dealers. Best to do your research online. You found a great place here to start. The asylum has helped me.
